Today the Washington Redskins unveiled their new 2012 “anniversary” NFL Nike Elite 51 football uniform design at an event celebrating the club’s 80th anniversary at the indoor practice facility at Redskins Park. Linebackers Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan were on hand to showcase the new look unveiling the latest version of Nike's highly innovative new uniform system which once again includes a helmet finished with HGI HydroSkin® technology.

Working closely with Nike, HGI used HydroSkin® technology to bring a vintage, leather helmet look to life for the Redskins.The design of the overall Nike uniform pays tribute to 1937 QB “Slingin” Sammy Baugh, who in his first year in the league led the newly relocated Redskins to their first National Championship.

After the Oregon Ducks won the Rose Bowl this year wearing their LiquidMetal™ helmets finished by HGI, many people took notice. One person in particular was Gordon Ting, the Team Manager of the Sparco Rally xD race team. Early in 2012 Gordon reached out to HGI to find out more about HydroSkin® technology, the HydroChrome® finish and what HGI could do for the Sparco Rally xD driver's helmets. 

The Sparco Rally xD team explained that were looking for a race inspired helmet with a monochromatic theme, utilizing the same bold HydroChrome® finish of the Oregon Ducks Rose Bowl helmets. The final design features a carbon fiber HydroSkin® pattern paired with the 12-step HGI HydroChrome® process for a multi-dimensional look. The logos on each helmet are the focal points, finished in both HydroChrome® and LiquidMetal™.

It was decided that the helmets should be debuted at the Oregon Trail Rally since HGI is from Oregon and this also the particular race where the Sparco Rally xD had it's first ever podium finish. Because of all of the recent interest we would like to let everyone know that the Seattle Seahawks will have their new helmet design available for purchase sometime later this month around the time of the 2012 NFL Draft (April 26th). We will pass along information as soon as it is available where they can be purchased and what the cost will be. Versions of the helmet that are in the works include:

- Riddell Speed Authentic Helmet

- Full-size Replica Helmets

- Mini Helmets (Availablilty is TBD after full-size helmets are released)

Today the NFL officially revealed the new uniforms for 2012 season. One team's uniform is receiving a lot of extra attention: the Seattle Seahawks. Not only do the Seahawks have a new uniform, but also an updated helmet. And HGI is proud to announce that the new Seahawks helmet is the first in the NFL finished with HGI HydroSkin® technology.

Working closely with the Seattle Seahawks and Nike, HGI used HydroSkin® technology to take the helmet from a concept to reality. The Nike design embodies both the heritage of the Seahawks namesake, with the Native American feather symbol center stripe pattern, combined with a semi-gloss dual texture HGI HydroSkin® finish.
